A night hike turned field recording session. It was a great set of hours. Didn't bring much. T brought a field recorder but with no battery. A mistake that had somehow been made twice on this very same trail. Directed by him we used my phone to take the recordings and most of the pictures (he was, and still is, very low on space on his iPhone 6).
The whole excursion was haphazardly put together an hour or so before the drive. We didn't want to bring a tent because it didn't seem gloomy enough for rain. Good thing though because it rained all night. I don’t remember exactly what we listened to on the way up but i remember that the trek, motorized and manual was pretty life-affirming.
We hiked up in the dark, documenting what we thought needed to be immortalized: Listening to the bugs and the rustling, (i was) tripping on the small imperfections on the human made fire road.
Post-finding the deer trail on the ridge, we make it to what feels like a mound in the middle the valley. A beautiful spot.
Not a lot of sleep got had on account of the wind and fever dreams associated with the thinking that a bear was rustling on the side of our tent all night.
Anyway it was awesome. Everything was wet which made the colors of object look extra vibrant. I don’t think T slept. He gave me the better pad I think.
